Questions

Guess WHO was the last to leave the kitchen last night?

Guess what I discovered this morning when I walked into the kitchen? The door left open all night! (pic is after clean out)

Guess who got to clean up the mess?

Guess how many times this SAME thing has happened this year?

Guess who JUST went to the grocery (only YESTERDAY) and bought 4 gallons of milk + various other dairy items?

Guess how much this is gonna cost?

Guess who better not evah do this again!?$#^?!

Some of you have already heard about David leaving the refrigerator door open.. or thinking he closed it but it swung open instead. *grrr* This is the THIRD time this has happened this year.. the first two were back to back! and I can't believe it but for one reason or another we were just talking about that... and then look what he up and did last night!?

It's bad enough that we lost everything due to loosing electricity THREE times during Hurricane season this fall... (Tropical Storm Edouard, Hurricane Gustav and Hurricane Ike) along with another THREE times thanks to David's one last trip to the fridge before bed...

All I can say is - 2009 is around the corner and lets hope this was just a streak of bad luck for 2008...

a repair request for the NEW digital camera

So this is a photo of our most recent Cannon Digital Camera. (Actually our 4th Cannon since our married life began in '97..but who's counting)
I la,la,love it!!! My most favorite feature that this model has that none of our previous Canon's have had - is that it immediately REMOVES red eye after you take the photo. Blink, red eyes GONE! :) I can't tell you how much time that saves me when I am at CVS printing them out!
You may remember us buying in in June just before the kids' Birthday b/c David broke our other one.. (apparently when you are on the floor rollin around playin with the kids, your pocket is not the best place to store a digital camera!)

Well guess what - I broke it! actually I'm not convinced I had anything to do with it... but the switch that lets you change between taking photos or videos is STUCK on video mode only! URGH!!!
and guess who thought we didn't need to "waste" money buying Circuit City's Buyer Protection Plan... yep, us! double UrGH!!!
David called Circuit City, and there is nothing they can do for us... although they did fax us a copy of the sales receipt which was helpful. David contacted Canon and found out everything we need to do for a repair request and left me printed step-by-step instructions...so today I mailed it off to Cannon and I am hoping we get it back before our Thanksgiving trip to Kentucky!

Our most favorite camera (the one David broke) was the Cannon SD450 is now our back up camera... and I am grateful that it still works to take photos so that I could capture some Halloween photos..... although, it's almost like ancient times... I have no clue what the photos are turning out to look like until I see them loaded on the computer. :P
can't stand putting it up to my eye to look thru the teeny tiny view finder!!! ...am I spoiled or what?

A Sad Goodbye...

Well as some of you who have been checking in and revisiting to see any new news... you may have figured it out. I've not been on line b/c we drove back home to Texas earlier this week. It was a sad good bye to all of our family Sunday when we spent the whole day making the rounds to go bye and see everyone one last time before leaving.....

Jackson enjoying a "double foot back rub" from the twins while cruzin to Kentucky.

But the saddest goodbye was the day before - Saturday. Early Saturday morning Jackson, our little miniature Schnauzer, was hit by a car on the road in front of my dad's home... killed instantly. :(

What a terrible thing to have to deal with... but Nora did better than I thought she would. I waited until later that afternoon to tell her about him.

However for Daddy and I, it's been more difficult.... we have 9 years of memories of Jackson... and telling David who was still in Texas..over the phone...wasn't easy either. We've had Jackson for almost as long as we've been married. He was our first child.

These are a few photos taken of him during our travels evacuating during hurricane Ike this month.
always curious to see what the babies were playin...

Jackson waiting patiently for his turn at having a treat..

These five pics were taken the last time I stopped to get everyone out of the van for walking, changing, feeding, and reloading on the way to KY. Jackson was so excited to look out the back hatch to see where we were - and he was up in Olivia's lap - which she LOVED! :) I'm so glad I took these pics... but wish I had made a short video to capture her loud laughing!!!

and there is no doubt that Jackson loved visiting my Dad's home as much as we did!!! He even used to get all worked up and barking if you even mumbeled the words, "Do you want to go to Kentucky?" You never had to ask him twice... he was always ready to go! His registered name was even "Travelin' BoJackson"

Jackson running behind Papaw and Nora on the the four wheeler.

...and this last photo... is where we laid him to rest... under the pear tree... he's hard to see but just infront of the wheel barrell...

Jackson you were such an important part of our family... and the BEST pet we ever had! So many people loved you very much!!! We will miss you so much and never forget you!!
To everyone who understans our sorrow, thank you for you prayers.
Saint Francis, patron saint of animals..pray for us.

Here we go again - activating storm plans and keeping an eye on Gustav

Why, someone please tell me again, why did we have to move to the gulf coast?? *sigh* Seems like there is a good chance we will have to evacuate over the weekend b/c of Gustav which as of today - they are expecting it to strengthen!

David is very busy at work activating storm plans and keeping in contact with city officials. He says they will announce tomorrow morning if there will be a mandatory evacuation or not.... be he wants me to be packed and ready to go the minute they say so.

Honestly the news pretty much turned my stomach yesterday when he told me very firmly he wants me to drive up to Mississippi with the kids - Oh the thought of it!!! So overwhelming!

For those of you who don't know - David's job roll puts him pretty much in charge at the plant for hurricanes... he and his team stay behind and protect the fort while everyone else leaves...

During Rita, Nora who was 15 months old and I left Texas and didn't return until 23 days later. In 2005, I packed up EVERYTHING - I'm talking every photo, every quilt, every everything I could never replace.

This time having the twins along and all their gear **and don't forget the dog too** I'll be doing good to remember the bare essentials this time! Plus I have to leave space in the van for a diaper changing area -I can't do it in public restrooms... well I guess I could since I'll also have to have space in the van for the double stroller.. One can sit in it while I change the other..

Problem is I only have one pack-n-play for sleeping... I'm thinking I will take a chance that perhaps when I get to where I'm going the couple will have friends with a baby and I can borrow their pack and play. worst case - I have to go buy one.

and where will we go? Nora's Godfather, Michale lives in Jackson Mississippi. He and Abbey have been so nice to welcome us in the past and I spoke with him on the phone last night concerning hurricane plans. Abbey's family is from Gulf Port... so depending on the path of the hurricane chances for a house full of guests is pretty good for them.

So for now, I better get off here and get busy. I have a lot to do even if I'm not taking everything. I plan to bag all photos and quilts up into large outdoor bags and then take them all upstairs to the guest bedroom. The only "things" I'm taking is the laptop and both of the towers to the old computers. They have all our digital photos stored on them. We still have not backed them up! I think they'll fit on the passengers side floorboard... and depending on how much room I have I may take a few quilts. The rest will have to stay here and I'll just have faith knowing that we do have insurance if we ever need it!

I'll check back in when I get to where I'm going - If I'm going... ;) So if you can say a prayer or two for me and my nerves... I have never traveled with 3 kids and a dog by myslef before!

Frustrating- a little bad news on our computer....

The photos added to keep your attention while reading this post were taken by the author with no real intention other than goofing off while on vacation and waiting for David and Nora to return for their trip to the Main Street Coffee Shop while I waited in the van with the sleeping babies.... little did I know then I would use them later on to express how i feel this week around here! LOL Enjoy!

It will come to no surprise that I am behind in blogging. *sigh* (I have photos from KY and story ideas for most everyday we were there for the week of 4th of July) - I am so far behind in everything I do as a Mom, that I almost feel like I'm going forwards! HA! LOL
But I need to let everyone know - especially the family in KY who just recently got computers (Dad & Clara, Gma Minor, Bary & Kathy) that there hasn't been much new to read or see because our computer is on the verge of retiring - or rather dying!
Good news is that as I get time to get on line and post and the computer cooperates, I will post here and there... and that lucky for me, this is my Birthday month, and we have been wanting a laptop for about a year now... so perhaps it is time to cash in and get one! (Not that I expect to see any cash...)
so until then, you may see some posts our of order by date... I may try to back date but the main page only shows 5 stories at a time so you may need to click on the older posts link at the very bottom of the page.
Sorry Dad to make you wear a walking path of so many trips out to the shop where your computer is, only to find the same ole same ole!! :P But if you are reading this - there's at least 2 more new stories below. :c) *yeah*

Love to everyone and thanks for sticking around while we wait on our new laptop from Dell. My Birthday isn't for another week (July 26th) so the big question is - will David let me open it early or not??? ;)

News, news, news and news

Good News, Great News, not so good news, & Bad news:

first the good news: Paul Thomas slept 7 straight HOURS Friday night! I went to bed the same time as the babies around 9:30pm after they were in their beds.... and Paul Thomas didn't not cry out until 4:30am!!! WHOOO HOOOO!

now, some not so good news: That same night, Nora was up twice :( with coughing and fever. I don't think she even knew I was by the bed trying my best to get her to take some Tylenol and although I didn't get the thermometer to know for sure the number, her head was extremely HOT - thankfully by morning it was gone.

and are you ready for the GREAT NEWS!!!??? Paul Thomas slept ALL NIGHT Saturday night and last night too!!! Could we be moving on to a new stage in life? I sure hope so!!! :P

and now the Bad news.... I sadly regret to tell you, last Thursday while David was playing in the floor with the kids after arriving home from work... he rolled over and SMASHED our digital camera and BROKE it! :( It was in his pant pocket with some keys - I know, I know...

Thankfully, it does still take photos but I have no idea what the photos look like until I upload them to the computer. Reminds me of the old fashioned way of taking photos - looking thru the viewfinder... *sigh*

Looks like we will be shopping for Camera number FIVE soon - as we can NOT live without taking photos! I hope to purchase one before our trip home to Kentucky so I can read all about how to use it before then.

So my question for the day is: Do you have a digital camera? If so what kind? What do you like/dislike about it??? We've only owned Cannon's in the past, but I'm open to other brands. Leave me a comment and tell me ;)

Love from Texas! ~bonnie
