June 4th - The Twins Turned One Year Old

Edited to add - I started on this over two weeks ago... and each time I am working on uploading photos, I get interrupted. (usually PT crying and afterwards I don't come back downstair for the night...) Sorry it has taken me so long to share Birthday photos! I'll also add a slide show on the sidebar.
****************************************

Thursday, I held play group at our home. It was a combined play group for the kids to play in the water and swing set outside while the mamma's enjoyed a Pampered Chef catalog show at the same time. :)

Prior to the party, I didn't tell anyone there would also be a Birthday celebration in addition to the Pampered Chef & Play Group - after all the twins do not *need* any gifts.... but following the eating of the PC food - we all sang the Happy Birthday Song and ate Birthday Cake for dessert! :P Look at all of these kids around my kitchen table - and I can think of 6 more kids that were here that day but for one reason or another not in the photo!!! That's 23 kids!!! wow!

My friend Cathi knew about my belated birthday plan, and was involved in the cake making! Didn't she do an EXCELLENT job!!! I was so pleased. I knew she would do a great job, but she exceeded my expectations! Thank You Cathi! :c)It was her idea to make little baby cakes for each twin to play in. Didn't Elmo and Cookie Monster turn out great!?! Cathi is so creative and comes up with the neatest cakes! If you are new to our blog, you should click on this link and take a look at the cake she made for my baby shower a year ago. We keep telling her she should start a home business... OK, first things first - Paul Thomas pulls the plate away and cookie monster comes a tumbling down!
Olivia gets an eye to eye look at her Elmo and then decides to poke his eye! (...so that is what she has been practicing for all this time as she pokes mine and David's eyes all the time??)

Big sister helps out. Nora really thought it was fun to watch the babies make such a mess!
and thanks Melanie for taking photos to capture the moment!! Look I even got to be in a few! (please excuse the no makeup look - Nora & I had swim lessons only a hour before everyone arrived) Here is Paul Thomas getting his hands dirty...
and Olivia takes a taste - look at those *sweet* lips!
not sure if he likes it or not???Olivia has already licked her fingers several times, but is so neat in eating her cake!!! Proof once again - just how opposite they really are! Some were better at mess making than others....PAUL THOMAS! :P

It's hard to tell from the photos but Olivia really did enjoy her cake. She took at least 5-6 small bites of it from my fork.... and stayed nice and clean the whole time.... ...where as brother - wellll.... he didn't eat much of his cake, but wore it instead! :cP

It was fun to watch and we are so happy so many friends could be here to enjoy it too! I'm making a slide show and will post on the side bar of more photos from the Twins' 1st Birthday! Enjoy!

minor changes

Hang on to your hats everyone - our blog is getting a new look. :P

I think I know what I'm doing... but ya never know. The new look will only show five postings on the main page. So if there is something you want to read older than that you will need to look for it over in the archives listing in the sidebar to the left.

I've lost some of our stuff - but will reload it as I get time. I really miss seeing that count down thingy for our trip to Kentucky for the 4th of July - maybe I can get that back before bedtime tonight.

Anyway, just wanted to let everyone know that I'm working on fixing up the blog. Hope you like the changes. ;)

oh - and if you have never posted a comment before - maybe now is the perfect time to do so! You do not have to have an account or anything... just hit the link at the bottom of this post and then select "Anonymous" and leave a note so we will know you were here. :) Barry & Kathy, this means you! along with a few other dozen lurkers that I know we have visiting from time to time :P

News Flash

OhMYGOODNESSICANNOTBELIEVEIT....OK, slow down a bit and type so people can read it Bonnie ;)

I can not believe it - but all THREE kids are asleep!!! Napping at the same time, I tell ya! and here is the proof!!

(note: in case you haven't read previous post, the camera is broken and I have no idea what the pics I'm taking look like until I see them on the computer. So let's take a look together.)
Nora asleep in the den
Olivia who finally tuckered out and gave up after crying and laying her head over on my leg while I was nursing Paul Thomas.

and here's Paul Thomas who was so miserable, runny supper snotty nose and so sleepy but couldn't' settle down... needed nursing.

So what did I do after taking photos?? Called our favorite Mexican restaurant and made an order for pick up and then called David and told him to stop by on the way home. We had already planned to go there tonight, but why wake up the kids?!

News, news, news and news

Good News, Great News, not so good news, & Bad news:

first the good news: Paul Thomas slept 7 straight HOURS Friday night! I went to bed the same time as the babies around 9:30pm after they were in their beds.... and Paul Thomas didn't not cry out until 4:30am!!! WHOOO HOOOO!

now, some not so good news: That same night, Nora was up twice :( with coughing and fever. I don't think she even knew I was by the bed trying my best to get her to take some Tylenol and although I didn't get the thermometer to know for sure the number, her head was extremely HOT - thankfully by morning it was gone.

and are you ready for the GREAT NEWS!!!??? Paul Thomas slept ALL NIGHT Saturday night and last night too!!! Could we be moving on to a new stage in life? I sure hope so!!! :P

and now the Bad news.... I sadly regret to tell you, last Thursday while David was playing in the floor with the kids after arriving home from work... he rolled over and SMASHED our digital camera and BROKE it! :( It was in his pant pocket with some keys - I know, I know...

Thankfully, it does still take photos but I have no idea what the photos look like until I upload them to the computer. Reminds me of the old fashioned way of taking photos - looking thru the viewfinder... *sigh*

Looks like we will be shopping for Camera number FIVE soon - as we can NOT live without taking photos! I hope to purchase one before our trip home to Kentucky so I can read all about how to use it before then.

So my question for the day is: Do you have a digital camera? If so what kind? What do you like/dislike about it??? We've only owned Cannon's in the past, but I'm open to other brands. Leave me a comment and tell me ;)

Wed, Jun 7, 2006

So much to be thankful for - I had to share the photo I took of Nora asleep recently with all of you. It is posted at the top of her home page. Everytime I look at her sleeping rather for a nap or at bedtime, I stop and say a simple prayer, "Thank you Lord for this precious gift! I am so greatful you made me her Mommy!"

David and I wanted to have a child for many years before we were blessed with Nora. Although our wanting a child was great, we had no idea just how happy we would really be as parents! Or how much closer the whole process brought us to our Heavenly Father. Nora has brought us more joy and happiness than we ever dreamed!

We have been trying for a second child. We want so badly for Nora to have the gift of being a sister. After several months, no luck... so this month David and I will be seeing a reproduction specialist from Houston that comes to Beaumont each month. I don't know how all of this will work out b/c yesterday I just found out taht David's insurance pays everything for the 1st initial visit (my apt is next week) but that after the 1st visit nothing else is covered. NOTHING....

With Nora after 10 months of various treatments - the injections I used to get pregnant were retail $1500/cycle and I had to use them twice. Thankfully at that time I had AWESOME insurance coverage and only had my $40 copay for the medication each time.

We can't worry with how, but just have faith that God WILL! As He always Does! God has given us more than enough in so many ways.

So if you could, please keep David and I in your prayers in the coming months as we go thru this time. It isn't easy. Thanks. ~Bonnie

Sunday at Home Depot

Summer has arrived EARLY here in Texas!!! For over a month or more, it's been HOT everyday!!! Spring came and went and we never got around to planing any flowers to brighten up our landscape -so we thought this weekend would be a great opportunity to work on that.

Here's a before photo of our home - lots of green... needs some COLORS! So off to Home Depot we go. David is 100% in charge of plants this year - as I always get to the store and begin picking everything I like then get home and have no plan as to where to plant everything to make it look right. :P
Here we are getting buckled in the cart and race car buggy. To make room in the van for all the stuff we planned to purchase we left the double stroller at home. The babies didn't seem to mind at all and loved their new rides!
I love this photo of the girls looking at each other and smiling. (oh how neat it is to say "the girls" I am so glad they have each other as sisters.... ahhhh...)
and look who shortly after, lost his driving privileges... no matter how tight we made the seat belt in the car, he kept finding a way to wiggle out and stand up. So he and Olivia had to make a switch. This strap held his little bee-hinny down and he stayed put! ;)

Oh, and guess what Nora's favorite part of the day was???? The Home Depot Garden - SPRINKLERS!!! Since it was nearly closing time on Sunday afternoon, and hardly any other customers there, I let her get soaked. She had the best time splashing, jumping and singing... and don't tell anyone, but I secretly wished I could have joined her! It was so HOT.... (aaahhh, I guess this was one of those "live it thru your kids" type moments... my first that I know of.)

and the babies could not take their eyes off of big sister! They just had to watch and see what she was gonna do next! That silly goose Nora! ;)

Poor Olivia never likes it when it is time to get back into her car seat... and mean-ole-momma didn't make it any better when she stuck her camera in her face while already protesting and crying... I just wanted to get a photo of her new tooth coming in - on her right bottom... it's easier to see while she is already crying. ;)

When we got home and opened the back hatch to get out all the flowers and stuff... look at what we saw.... two little tired cutie pies! And I don't know if you can see or not, but Paul Thomas' eyes are cracked open - the same way David often snoozes!

........and stay tuned for an "after" photo of the house after we get everything planed.
