Memorial Day Sale Anyone??

Can you take a guess at what we purchased over the weekend?  It arrives TOMORROW!!!!
After the movies this weekend, we drove to go get ice cream and within a 1 mile radius we saw about 4 different places having HUGE Mattress Sales!!  You know the type where they have people standing out by the traffic light holding huge signs pointing you in...

We've only been complaining of back ACHE for, oh I don't know - the last year!!?:!??  and since we still have some of our tax return money we decided that there would never be a "perfect" time to mattress shop.  (meaning - never gonna be a time without the kids with us)

So we bit the bullet and just did it.  I feel like we came out with a good deal too! ;)

With our purchase of the King Size Set, we got a instant $250 rebate, also two FREE memory foam pillows, and FREE protector covers for the pillows, FREE mattress protector, and FREE 1000 count King sheet set - I've never had that high of a thread count of sheets before have you?

We could have also taken home a FREE 32" flat screen TV - but instead, we told them we didn't want the TV and they took even more off of our price.  How's that for negotiations???

It was about this time last year we were shopping (with our tax money for a big flat screen for the den and cabinet when I negotiated a great deal and walked away with a $300 Best Buy gift card to use for purchasing our TV am I a hard sale or what... we were ready to walk away until they said - what if we give you a TV? --aka gift card)

So this time we rather have the price lowered than the TV - after all the one we have works fine.

*knock*on*wood*

Now watch our old 27" dinosaur TV quit working next week...   I won't even notice b/c I'll be sleeping so sound in our new bed..... Zzzzzz...

***the mattress in the photos above is not the one we bought - but leave it to the twins to find the only one with a REMOTE CONTROL in the showroom of about 40 different sets!  :P

Celebrating Memorial Day and Remembering the Soldiers

Memorial Day
© 1999 by Michelle Keim,
Commander of Royersford VFW Post 6341 in PA.

As we stand here looking
At the flags upon these graves
Know these flags represent
A few of the true American brave

They fought for their Country
As man has through all of time
Except that these soldiers lying here
Fought for your country and mine

As we all are gathered here
To pay them our respect
Let's pass this word to others
It's what they would expect

I'm sure that they would do it
If it were me or you
To show we did not die in vein
But for the red, white and blue.

Let's pass on to our children
And to those who never knew
What these soldiers died for
It's the least we can do

Let's not forget their families
Great pain they had to bear
Losing a son, father or husband
They need to know we still care

No matter which war was fought
On the day that they died
I stand here looking at these flags
Filled with American pride.

So as the bugler plays out Taps
With its sweet and eerie sound
Pray for these soldiers lying here
In this sacred, hallowed ground.

Take home with you a sense of pride
You were here Memorial Day.
Celebrating the way Americans should
On this solemnest of days.

Goin to the SHOW!

With it being Memorial Day weekend and no plans to travel - David wanted to do something fun with the kids.  So he looked up the show times and we all went to see a 3D movie over the weekend!

The twins have only been once before - last Thanksgiving while we were in KY we took them to see Tangled.  At the theater in our hometown 3 and under got in free.  NOT in Texas!  They were charged same as Nora... and an additional $3.50 per person b/c it was 3D.

Let's just say that in our B.C. life (before children) David and I use to go nearly every weekend to the movies and I don't think we ever broke $15-20 for our date.  That paid for the show and concessions.  Well I hate to break it to you if you've not been in a few years... but that won't even buy the whole family popcorn and drinks nowadays!

No kidding!  It was just over $17 bucks for our drinks and popcorn!
Sheesh! Don't even ask how much we paid to get in!

Thankfully I brought along two blankets.  One that I spread longways across the twins and we poured popcorn in their laps and then a blanket for Nora's lap and I shared with her.  Otherwise I don't think I  would have gotten any b/c there was no way to reach over to David who was 4 seats down from me.  I did get my own Coke though :) and he shared the kids' Hi-C.

If we go back - (Cars 2 comes out the end of June) - we'll try sitting infront and behind each other.  Dad and kid in front and me and 2 kids in the row just behind them so we can reach each other passing stuff...? maybe.

Maybe we'll wait until we are in Kentucky again and go to the show.  That way only 3 of us will have to pay to get in! ;)  The twins will be FREE!

I got Jesus Juked!

Saturday morning, my 3 year old Olivia came into my bedroom just before 8am with her pom-poms yelling "GIMMIE A O! GIMMIE a Y"! (trying to spell out her name) and I played along then asked for a turn & tried singing "Rise & Shine & give God his glory, glory!" With pom-pom hand motions and she let me know immediately in a harsh tone, that her pom-poms were NOT for God OR Jesus b/c I was not being reverent.

 I got Jesus Juked!

Just for Fun Friday - 5 Year Old's First Job

5 Year Old's First Job - How they learn from us

Here's a truly heartwarming story about the bond formed between a little 5-year-old girl and some construction workers that will make you believe that we all can make a difference when we give a child the gift of our time.

A young family moved into a house, next to a vacant lot. One day, a Construction crew turned up to start building a house on the empty lot.  The young family's 5-year-old daughter naturally took an interest in all the activity going on next door and spent much of each day observing the workers.

Eventually the construction crew, all of them "gems-in-the-rough," more or less, adopted her as a kind of project mascot. They chatted with her, let her sit with them while they had coffee and lunch breaks, and gave her little jobs to do here and there to make her feel important..

At the end of the first week, they even presented her with a pay envelope containing ten dollars. The little girl took this home to her mother who suggested that she take her ten dollars "pay" she'd received to the bank the next day to start a savings account.

When the girl and her mom got to the bank, the teller was equally impressed and asked the little girl how she had come by her very own pay check at such a young age.

The little girl proudly replied, "I worked last week with a real construction crew building the new house next door to us."

"Oh my goodness gracious," said the teller, "and will you be working on the house again this week, too?"

The little girl replied, "I will, if those assholes at Lowe's ever deliver the damn sheet rock..."

Kind of brings a tear to the eye - doesn't it?

Happy EARLY Birthday Nora!

Mmmm!  Isn't this a delishious looking cookie cake??  It's a month before Nora's actual Birthday but since her Birthday falls in the summer months, her teacher and I decided to make May 23rd her special day and celebrate it at school with her friends.

It was even an exciting day for little brother and sister too!!

Olivia and Paul Tomas got to sit at the table with all the kids and they thought that was too fun! Thankfully with it being the last week of school the teachers were relaxed with the no talking rule... otherwise my two would have gotten our table in trouble with their knock-knock jokes! It was fun. :)

Here's Nora with her chocolate chip cookie cake just before we lit the candles.

I made it this morning after I dropped her off at school and then my friend Heidi (who was Nora's preK-3 teacher) decorated it with icing she had left over from a wedding cake from the weekend and said,
"Oh Bonnie, bring it over and I'll decorate it while you go pick up the pizzas."

Also she said to leave the twins Olivia & Paul Thomas with her and she'd bring them and the cookie cake and meet me at school - isn't she a SAINT!!! and she has 3 kids at home herself!

I'm so glad she got to stay for lunch with Nora... and see how far Nora's come in the past few years. ;)

After lunchtime is recess and the teachers didn't mind the twins joining them.  I took my stuff back to my car and then joined them outside.  When I came back I saw that Paul Thomas had a fan club that followed him everywhere he went.. It was almost like Nora was Mary Had a Little Lamb (PT)...and everywhere that Nora went the lamb (PT) was sure to go.  Because she was so busy showing him and he ran along with her... and then his 1st grade fan club was right behind him!  haha

The twins were like local celebrities!

First he attempted to go up the slide on the right that has a hole in it and tape crossed at the top of slide... and they all shouted, "No! No!" and I showed him the hole and told him danger... so then he immediately darted up the slide on the left and again they shouted, "No! You're suppose to only GO DOWN a slide not up!"

Silly boy - he doesn't know the rules of the playground... but these little mommas were helping keep an eye on him and keep him straight!

My Happy 6 yr, 11 mo. girl Nora on her "Happy EARLY Birthday" party day at school.
Her birthday is exactly 1 month from today!

Hey everyone, come over here for one quick photo before you go to Religion...
2011 - Ms. Slovak's 1st grade class + 2 wannabes. ;)

Quickly after the group photo the kids were lining up to go to Religion... and Olivia quickly darted in with the girls.... she thought she was one of them now and didn't want to go home.

I am so glad we got to have an
EARLY Birthday Party/Lunch for Nora today and be there to enjoy it with her.

It was such a fun day!!

Nora's First Recital - Time to Shine!

This weekend was a busy and exciting time for us.  Nora had her first ever recital and did a full dress rehearsal Saturday morning at 8am with a performance that night at 6:30 and then another Sunday after Mass at 1:30.  I hope to post more photos soon - but the one above of her and her dance partner just before going out is my most favorite photo of all. ;)

CLICK HERE to watch her perform on youTube.  This was the first performance Saturday night.

To see all the photos I took during the recital CLICK HERE where they are uploaded to a folder on facebook.  I don't think you have to be on facebook to view them.  Let me know if there are problems.

Boys!

here's another funny for ya..

Today just as I was leaving walmart with the twins O tells me "I gotta potty" and so I just ignore her hoping she'll forget about it...lol - she's actually good about holding it and I can trust her to make it home since we were just leaving and walking to our van...

Anyway after I get kids into van and stuff put into the back hatch of the van she tells me again so I think dang. she can't wait... ok come on - we'll bend and squat right here in the parking lot between rows of cars... (((I'm not going back into wm)))

As I'm holding her and we're squatting... I am NEARLY SHOT IN THE FACE with a stream of pee-pee... from no other than PT who apparently decided to get out of the van and go too... as if he's afraid his sister will score one more point ahead of him for # of times a human can tinkle outside in their lifetime.

GRrreat!   I was so thankful he didn't get me... although I'm certain that was EXACTLY what he was trying to do! :/  Boys!
