Well Nora did finally get to see Santa Clause and sit in his lap. It wasn't a planned event - we just happened up on him in the Lawn and garden department of Wal-Mart last week. They were taking digital pictures and we could pick up our free copy today.

I wish I had had my camera with me that day but I didn't. I will see if I can get their picture scanned and put up on the webpage for everyone to see. Maybe later this afternoon while she is napping.

Happy Weekend everyone - this time next weekend we will be rolling into Campbellsville! :)

I have been getting some phone calls asking what size clothes is Nora wearing so I thought it wouldn't hurt to post it here too incase anyone was wondering.

18 months is what she is wearing now and they are slightly big -pants a little long so we roll them up. This size should get her thru the season, but a few outfits in the next size 24 months wouldn't hurt either.

Whatever anyone decides to give us for Christmas will be appreciated as always :)

She got new tennis shoes from Gma Minor when we were home (size 5.5) in October. But she has outgrown her Sunday shoes and all of her socks. If you would like more details or gift ideas feel free to call us or email dbminor@gt.rr.com

We're dreaming, of a white Christmas!

On Friday 12/16 we will be headed north bound for Kentucky! We are looking forward to spending our vacation with our families. David is off work until January 3rd.

We hope Nora will get to play in the snow while we are home. Maybe if we are really lucky we will get to make a snowman. We can't wait to see everyone! Only 10 days until we leave!!!

Well they say that practice makes perfect and if that is true, then Nora is well on her way to mastering Lego’s! :)

Her favorite toy are now Lego Blocks b/c this past week she has taken a new interest in them. Before now, she would walk thru them and swat them around with her hands and occasionally carry one around and chew on it (not to worry, she cant’ choke on them - they are the great big ones.) But now she plays with them all day long!

She sat in the floor for over an hour putting together 7 of the single blocks and then taking them apart and lining them up on the hearth and then putting them back together. She did this over and over and over and…… The day that she first did this, I thought that it would just be for the day, but since then she has been so absorbed in these Lego’s everyday!

She has to have at least 2 in her hands all day - in the highchair while eating, in the car, in the bathtub and even in her bed when at nap time when she goes to bed! The last 3-4 mornings when she wakes up we can hear her on the monitor playing and talking to her Lego’s.

This weekend we actually got to sleep in until 8:30!! Wooo HOooo! ;)

Nora's latest trick is the Backstroke! Well... not really, but that is what we call it.

About 3 nights ago she started sliding into the bath water and laying down looking up at the ceiling - all on her own! Her ears are under water and it comes right up around her face.

She gets so giggly and laughing - I guess my singing sounds funny when her ears are underwater.

Tonight I asked her if she wanted to do the backstroke and she knew exactly what I meant and lunged back into place. Walla - instant hair rinse! :)

Well so much has been happening with Nora, I almost don't know where to begin! She buzzed around the neighborhood on Halloween looking so cute! I am going to try to upload all of my photos over the weekend for everyone.

Nora, Jackson & Bonnie spent 25 days in MS and KY. Six weeks after Rita and we are getting back to normal. Our town is about 50% thru the cleanup process. We are truly grateful that God spared our home!

The cable and phone came back on last weekend (yippee) - so we are back on line! Thank you to everyone who prayed for us during the storm! God did hear you and He did calm the storm -

The National Weather Service said the only way they could explain us not getting the projected surge waters, was that it was a miracle! Thanks again for your prayers for us.

We are happy to be back together with David and back to our home.

We decided to drive on up to KY since they are saying we will not be able to go back to Orange for a month or maybe longer b/c no water or elect. We left Jackson, MS yeterday at 9am and arrived in Campbellsville at 6pm so we made really good time!

We are set up at my Daddy's home and are looking forward to visiting with all of our family. If you need to contact us both of our cell phones still work so just call us. Love, Bonnie

Good News! - Just a quick update. Nora, Jackson and I left Thursday morning at 8:30 to Jackson, MS to stay with Abbey & Michael. We had GREAT luck with the traffic. We were ahead of all the mess. I got off I-10 at Lake Charles and took backroads and did really well finding my wasy thru the small towns. **See David I CAN read a map**

David had to stay behind b/c he is the safety manager of Friestone and had a lot of responsibility coordinating all of this. He was in a shelter with between 200-300 emergency personel, Police officers, EMT, mayor, judges, ect. They had direct phone calls every few hours with the National Weather Service to keep updated.

They lost electricity around 9pm - but phone lines remained clear!! even cell phone lines! I last spoke to him around 10:30pm and he was going to try and get some sleep before the next conference call with the NWS at midnight.

This morning I was up at 5:30am and tried to call but got his voice mail...@ 8am he called me to tell me he was OK!! Praise the Lord!! The second call I got from him around 10am - he was at our home.

He had to walk to it b/c many trees down blocking roads. Our home is OK~!! One tree down-very damaged, couple shutters blown off and a screen blown off but the roof, windows, and everything else OK!!! Water standing in the drainage ditch and over the drive but not up into the yard! Praise the Lord again!!!

On his was walking back tohis car he decided to walk down the next street over and he said it appeared to have been hit by a tornado b/c of all the severe damage. Roofs complety pealed off and could sese thru the houses and lots of trees blown over-roots sticking out of ground. WOW- we got very lucky!!!

In case some of you forgot where we live, our home is in Orange, TX right on the TX/LA boarder.

At this time, I am not sure how long Nora, Jackson and I will stay with our friends here in MS - probably until the water and electricity are back on at home.

Tonight we are counting our blessings - that we will have a husband and daddy to go home to!!! Thanks all of you for praying for us in the Rita adventure.

We grew up in KY and this was our 1st experience with a huricane. whew! (So thankful we have this webpage to be able to keep everyone updated! It had expired but we got it back up and plan to renew for another year.)

God bless everyone! -Bonnie

We all love looking through magazines – especially babies.

Ever since Nora started crawling, she has loved getting her hands on magazines!!! But today she discovered a whole new way to play with them.

After ripping out a few dozen pages she was walking around and two pages stuck to her feet. She stomped around the house looking down at her feet the whole time and squealing in amazement. It was so cute! You would have thought she had on a new pair of cowboy boots!

I almost forgot to add the Zoo photos! We took Nora to the Houston Zoo the weekend of my Birthday. We had a great time but it was way too HOT!! I am sorry there aren't many the camera starting acting up. We were really disapointed that we didn't get to take many. Maybe the battery went bad? Not sure?

Sat, Aug 6, 2005

Nora was such a stinker at Sears last weekend!! I thought she would be in a great mood b/c she napped in the van during the drive over to Mid County. The first was the only photo they were able to take with her posed. The other two snapshots she was in movin’ – moving out of the camera’s view!

Although you can’t tell from how happy she looks - She was so fussy and in a terrible mood. She kept running to me and crying. I am surprised I didn’t show up in the picture #2 b/c I was so close to her trying to get her to stay put. After about 30 minutes, 3 snapshots was all she was able to get.

Oh well, guess Nora showed us! Ha-ha We will go back again soon the lady extended my coupon since it expired 7/31. I am hoping she will do better when we go back. (The pics are in a new photo album and will look fuzzy b/c they are proofs.) Love from Texas!

Nora had her visit with her new pediatrician last week. Dr. Medrano was very friendly and took to Nora right away. You can tell she really loves children. Nora’s weight and height have been updated in the status and growth chart.

Nora is doing new things everyday. She stated shaking her head “NO!? about a week ago and does it all the time. Even when you ask her if she wants a drink and she does she will shake her head no first then grab the cup. Typical female, we are suppose to be able to read her mind all the time and know what she is thinking – ha-ha.

She also throws tantrums already! And she isn’t close to being 2yrs old or 3 (which I have herd is worse that the terrible two’s.) We call them total meltdowns. She is so tenderhearted and if she is getting into something she isn’t suppose to be and you tell her no, she gets SO UPSET! She squats down then throws her whole body to the floor balling!

She recently started demanding for a lot of holding. Not sure if that is linked with the teething maybe she isn’t’ feeling good? Her top molars still haven’t’ broken thru the gums yet. She wants to be held all the time and balls if you set her down. Daddy got a good taste of it over the past weekend. She has learned that she can climb anything she can get her knee up on. She is getting fast climbing up the stairs when we go up to bed.

I can’t remember if I told everyone about her getting into her walker on her own. I was totally surprised one day when I came out of the bathroom and there she was in it! I got her out and watched her climb back into it. She sure is strong! Well I will post some photos later on when she is taking a nap.

Poor Nora has had a rough weekend. She is cutting 1st molars on the top. These will make 12 teeth so far. We've never noticed her having such pain as she has had cutting these two.

This weekend twice at the dinner table she just leaned over and laid her head down on the table and tears flowed down both cheeks. It was so pitiful!! She wasn't boo-hooing just tears. It broke both our hearts to see her like this.

We have been giving her teething tablets which have helped greatly! She gets excited when she sees the bottle. She has already figured out and knows what they will give her relief! Please say a little prayer for her until she cuts these teeth. Thanks :-)

Sun, Jul 3, 2005

We are feeling a little blue today, or at least I (Bonnie) am. The 4th of July is tomorrow and we don't have any plans. There was no mention of a parade in the local newspaper last week. I don’t think they do much here in Orange except a small fireworks show at dusk. I am really starting to feel homesick for KY.

There is no place I rather be on the 4th of July than at home in Campbellsville. From sun up to sun down there is something to do. Every year following the parade downtown, we walk Main Street and it usually becomes like a homecoming seeing people we haven’t seen in a long time. We haven’t missed many 4th of July’s over the years.

The first time we didn’t make it home was the year we built our home in Sumter, SC. David & I spent the whole day planning our landscaping. Last year Nora was only 11 days old and we were hosting a house full of company at our home in Augusta, GA. My family - Daddy, Barry and Brian came down from KY to meet Nora for the first time. I wasn’t feeling up to traveling yet.

I think we will start planning for next year. We will have to make a trip to Campbellsville for the 4th of July next year. Nora will have just turned 2 and I'm sure she will enjoy it more then.

Still haven't been to the doctor for Nora's 1 year old check up. We are waiting on our new insurance cards to come! We have heard lots of good stuff on two peditricians here in Orange. We will be sure to post information as soon as we go. I have added the charts for her weight and height to the photo album. I will update it soon.

We just got home from dropping off David’s family at the airport in Houston this afternoon. His mom, Kathy; both of his grandmothers, Corrine & Nora Lee and Diane (a friend of Kathy’s), came and spent the week with us to help celebrate Nora’s 1st Birthday last Thursday the 23rd. .

We had such a great time – doing something different each day. Shopping, touring, shopping, party planning, shopping, going to the library, shopping, hosting Nora’s 1st Birthday, and we even went to Galveston Island (more shopping) for a couple of days while they were here. It was such a great trip and we made some great memories together.

Tomorrow morning it sure will be an empty house with everyone all gone and David back to work. I plan to work on uploading new photos for everyone to see of Nora and her Birthday week. She now has a whole new wardrobe and is anxious to model each dress and outfit.

Nora's bedroom door is decorated so pretty with all the beautiful cards she received for her Birthday. She loves looking at them each time we pass by. Thanks to all of you for remembering her special 1st Birthday. We love you all!

Thu, Jun 23, 2005

Today is Nora's 1st Happy Birthday! I had the following announcement published in the local newspaper along with a photo of Nora. I am including it so all of you can read it.

Nora Anne Minor will turn one year old Thursday, June 23.

She will celebrate with a Strawberry Shortcake birthday party, Thursday afternoon. Nora Anne is the daughter of David and Bonnie Minor of Orange. There will be special guests visiting from Campbellsville, Kentucky who will be celebrating Nora Anne’s first birthday with her. They are Kathy Minor, Grandmother; Corrine Reliford, Great Grandmother; Nora Lee Minor, Great Grandmother; and Diane Mardis, friend of the family.

Nora also has a grandfather, Ollie Newton; Uncles, Barry Newton and Brian Newton; Aunt, Melanie Minor; and cousins Malorie and Lance Byrne all of Campbellsville, Kentucky. Cousin, Josh Newton, is from Bowling Green, Kentucky.

Nora Anne you have brought us more happiness than we ever wished for and each day you fill our hearts with more and more joy. You were born a Georgia Peach, but now you are as sweet as a Texas Orange!

We love you!! DaDa & MumMum

Nora is WALKING SOLO!!! She started a couple weeks ago taking a few quick steps to me, but out of excitement would try to go too fast and end up falling... but as of today she is going solo anywhere and everywhere she wants to!

I knew yesterday that it was only a matter of time, because the spent a whole hour doing laps (walk/running) around the loveseat holding on!

It is so funny to watch her because she looks like she is lost. She staggers so slowly looking around as if to say, "hum, where do I want to go now?"

Baby gates are installed thankfully!!! We already found out that she can climb the stairs! It won't be long until she is running from us!

I forgot to mention that I had the best 1st Mother's Day any mom could wish for! David and Nora surprised me with a beautiful Hydrangea plant shortly after waking up in the hotel. Later that morning we went to church at the cathedral in Beaumont and then enjoyed a great lunch outdoors at a restaurant downtown.

To end the day, we drove by our new home in Orange and the previous owners had left the keys for us so we unloaded our stuff out of the van - no more hotels for us! Then went to Wal-Mart to buy an air mattress.

What a great memorable day with my family! :) I am so blessed to be a mother!

We are finally HERE in our new home in Orange, TX! The movers packed all of our stuff up on Monday and then we spent two days driving to arrive for our closing on our new home Friday. The movers arrived last Tuesday the 10th to unload our stuff!

Boy we were all so happy to see our belongings… especially our own beds. Air mattresses should not be made for more than one person to sleep on trust me!

I have posted some photos of Nora during the moving in day. She spent a lot of time outside with us in under the shade tree. Keeping her from eating grass and bugs kept me David busy while I kept up with the box inventory checklist.

We will be emailing everyone soon to let you know our new mailing address and email address. Thanks for your prayers!

We are MOVING to TEXAS! Most of you have already heard but in case you haven't - well now you know. It is certainly going to be a very sad good bye to our dearest friends here in Augusta! :(

David is being promoted with Firestone to the plant in Orange, TX. We spent all of last week out there to house hunt. Nora was such a great traveler on the plane and a great house hunter too! We made and offer on a home Thursday before flying out Friday and the sellers accepted!!! Whew!! What a process!

I can’t begin to tell you how busy we have all been. I am coordinating this move and there is just not enough time in the day. David’s part in this hasn’t been easy either, because I am constantly adding to his honey-do-list. He checks off an item as done only to find I have added 3 more! Will he ever get done? :P

Our home here in GA is not on the market as of yet. We are trying to get our repair guy to come replace some rotting wood by the front door before we list it. Also we are having him do some outdoor painting and pressure washing. Our realtor says that we will have a better chance at getting prime market value if that all of these thing are taken care of first. He’s supposed to be here tomorrow and Thursday so join us in crossing your fingers for us that he will show up! He has cancelled on us twice already.

Hopefully we will have a for sale sign in the yard Thursday afternoon! The bad thing is that we will only be able to show it with furniture for only 2-3 days!!! Yep, like I said earlier time is flying by!!! Our new home in TX goes to closing on Friday May 6th, so next MONDAY packers come, Tuesday is loading day and then we are driving cross-country on Wednesday and Thursday!! We will keep you posted, please if you remember us, keep us in your prayers. God Bless!

Nora has a new nick name... I actually stopped everything to come to the computer and post this! Nora is now known as "Little Miss Water Works" - for the last few days she gets so mad and frustrated when she doesn't get her way, that she immediately turns on the water works! She looks so pitiful, but luckily the water shuts off about as quickly as it turns on - for now at least. :)

Tue, Apr 5, 2005

Looks like David's first day of work at the Orange plant is scheduled for Monday, May 2nd... that is only 4 weeks away! I hope the HR people call soon so we can get all the details about selling our home. For now I have to get everything cleaned and put away neatly. Thank goodness I am all caught up on the laundry! Woo hoo!

Well we have some sour news for everyone. We are moving - yes moving. I know it's April Fools Day, but we are not foolin. .....this makes our upteenth move in our 8 years of marriage.

David has accepted a job promotion with Firestone at the Orange, Texas plant. We don't have much of the moving details as of yet but it looks like once everything starts going it will be a fast move.

It was the hardest decision we have had to make since we have been married. We will really hate to say Good Bye to Augusta and our friends here. We really feel like Augusta is home for us.

Wow, I am just now getting Valentine's photos up. We got a new charger for the camera so we are now back in business with taking photos!!!

Nora is crawling everywhere and pulling up to most everything! She is even starting to cruise... moving along the sofa while holding on. Today she actually worked up enough nerve to go from the sofa to my knee to the coffee table! All the while breathing so heavy. I think it was the scarryest thing she has ever done in her whole life up until now. :)

Nora is quite a handful to say the least. When I am at the computer I spend more time pulling her out from under the desk than I do typing... she loves all the wires and has discovered how to pull over the trash can under the desk. The only time I can really spend updating the page is when she is sleeping. So tonight and tomorrow while David is in Texas with Bridgstone, I will get some new photo albums put up for all you to see.

Tue, Mar 1, 2005

Nora has more teeth now! She has 4 on the bottom that are all the way in and the 4 center ones on the top are cutting in together. Come her birthday she will have so many teeth she is likely to tell us, "Skip the cake give me the steak!" :)

Tonight for Valentines Day, Nora and I made David a special Valentine's Dinner and had it all set up in the den. We had many candles and nice music and of couse presents for Daddy too! Last year for Valentine's - David felt Nora kick for the first time. That was pretty special too. ;)

Nora is playing patty cake! She opens her Left hand up and pats it on what ever she can when I start singing PatA-Cake. Her right had remains in a fist for now. Today when I was changing her diaper she grabbed my arm and began Pat-a-caking it. It was so cute! Also Nora is crawling to her bouncy seat and pulling up to it. Today I actually saw her stand up in front of it - holding on for dear life of course. She was so proud of herself! :)

Tue, Feb 8, 2005

I recently went to a "Discovery Toy's" party and we have discovered the perfect purpose for Nora's new toy. We call it the "bite ball toy".

At meal time, it is so difficult and challenging sometimes to get Nora to open her mouth to take a bite. Sometimes I feel like I do everything but stand on my head... so David suggested we have it on the table when she is eating and when she takes a bite we push the button and spin the balls as her reward.

Well, I have been doing that the last 2 days and it is working pretty good and I don't have to put on a show before the bite which most of the time didn't get her to take a bite.... Now the entertainment begins when she actually does what we want her to do.

Talk about creative reinforcement! :)

Nora is cutting her 4th tooth! It broke thru the gumb Sunday night. She and I were up all night. Poor baby has had a terrible runny nose with this tooth. It is on the bottom with all the others. No upper teeth yet, just chin choppers.

Sorry for not updating sooner. Over Christmas we - or rather, "I" misplaced (not lost) the battery charger for the digital camera and we have not been able to use it for a month now. Just this week we got to download the photos we took by using a borrowed card reader. I will work hard over the next few days to update Nora's page with new photos! Don't know when we will get to take any more photos as our camera and all of it's replacement parts are discontinued. It's 4 years old.... perhaps we will buy a new camera for our 8th anniversary?

So much is happening with Nora, it's hard to know where to start so I will just start with most recent and when I think of the other I will come back and post with a backdate... Today she had her fist official "FIT"!!!

Nora and I were at daily mass. She was playing with my sunglasses during the homily and gagged herself so when I tried to help her out by taking them out of her hands she screamed - so upset with me. I gave them back to her as my first reaction to get her to stop with her fit...it worked..but she gagged herself again so I took them away. She threw her weight back with all her might and screamed. I quickly gathered up my jacket and her blanket and headed for the cry room. She cried the whole way. Since we have been attending daily mass, this was our first time to go to the cry room.

Nora is Crawling now! 1/28/05

Thursday, January 27, 2005

Thu, Jan 27, 2005

Nora has been eating a variety of baby foods and is now on the Stage 2 foods which has a much larger of variety. So far we have yet to find any fruit that she likes. She has turned down Applesauce, bannas, peaches, and apricots! Doesn't like any of them. I have even tried mixing the fruit with her cereal and that doesn't work.

Good thing is - that she loves vegetables! Except peas that is - which is so unlike her mother. Nora's favorites are Butternut Squash, Sweet Potatoes, Spinish, Green Beans and Carrots.

Fri, Jan 21, 2005

On Friday, January 21st the youth traveled by bus with several members of the CSRA Catholic Pro-Life Council. We got an early start as the 45 of us loaded the bus and left the church parking lot around 7 a.m. It was an eventful day. “Together For Life 2005" was the day’s theme sponsored by the Georgia Right to Life.

On the drive up, we together prayed a pro-life rosary on the bus before arriving at the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception to celebrate Mass for the unborn with the new Archbishop, Most Reverend, Wilton Gregory. Who before walking in during the opening hymn, reached over and gave Nora a BLESSING! :)

From the Shrine, we walked up to the state capitol where we joined thousands of other pro-life supporters. Following praise and worship songs from the steps of the capital, we heard from many legislators, religious leaders, and other concerned citizens. We also heard about new legislation that is in the Georgia Congress.

Former Governor Zell Miller was scheduled to speak but was unable to be there because of obligations to president George W. Bush. Before the 1-mile silent memorial walk through downtown Atlanta, Father Regan joined up with us and gave our youth group a special blessing.

We then marched with many other pro-life supporters through the streets of downtown Atlanta. Many of the youth carried large crosses, provided by the CSRA Catholic Pro-Life Council, to show their support. It was a great day and our youth made a great statement about being pro-life.

I am so greatful that David and I are active in teh pro-life movement. :)
