Wordless Wednesday 05/27/09

I love being a stay at home mom and getting to be RIGHT HERE in the middle of all the fun! :)

Cajun Story of the Week - week of 05/27/09

Old man Curtis Boudreaux had a lot of money him, and about ten years ago he married Agness Comeaux, who was 20 years younger dan him. Da first couple fo years was okay but since den deay did a lot of screaming and cussing deep into da night. Dy stayed married but hated each utta. Old man Boudreaux would shout, "Wen I die me, I will dig my way up out of dat grave and come back and haunt you for da rest of you life."

Neighbors feared dat old man. Day believed he practiced Black Magic, strange tings happened in da neighborhood. Boudreaux was a mean old man and finally died of a hear attack wen he was 80-year-old.

Everybody was relieved dat he was now dead. Agnes, her, started partying, going to bars, having a good time and spending crazy Boureaux's money. Her friends were concerned for her and axed, "Agnes, aren't you afraid you, dat Boudreaux him, might be able to dig his way up out of dat grave adn come back and haunt you?"

Agnes said, "I'm not worried me, let dat old fool dig. I had him burried upside down, ass side up."

What a fun day at home!

I've recently fallen in love with red work. ;) and this block I'm working on called "A more than 24 hour day" is a great way to describe our day today - we had a very fun day as a family. I hop, played at the mall, the babies naped on the way home in the van...

Then after we got home... the girls were entertained for hours playing in the sprinkler so I had time to sit and stitch. This is my 4th or 5th block in this "Quilter's Blessings"Block of the Month Series from my friend Bea in Germany.

It was so fun watching them play. Olivia figured out that she had an all you can drink water fountain ;)

Nora has a "good idea" - and is trying to convince me to pull the turtleshell over to the sliding board.... it was just what I needed to bribe her into taking 1 or 2 look into the camera "good" photos... (these are so hard to get)

and it worked! we got a great "Mommy & Me" photo to remember this fun day...

The girls made some great memories playing outside while Paul Thomas napped today... I'm so glad they have each other to grow up with... aaawlll.... sisters ;)

And don't cha just love this one below -Look at those expressions... too funny!

After Nora and Olivia had played for about an hour... I heard Paul Tomas wake up on the monitor... so I went and got him.

He joined the girls outside...and made up for the lost time in about 3 minutes. ;) He was all about the slide...

and little sister is right behind him... hehe behind... ;)

I love this one of him peaking over the top...

Not really woke up good yet... but ready to have some fun...Ready, set, GO!

and he was doing this to try and make his self go faster. Paul Thomas is so funny.

and BIG Splash!

Olivia peaking over the top..

and here is our "cheerleader" big sister Nora... sitting at the bottomyelling "ready, set, GO!" each time.

this is my favorite funny face!!!

and Paul Thomas was very excited and loud too..

after I wrapped Olivia up (in a quilt made by my momma) she was so still and serious... I could have sat there and held her forever all bundeled up...

but then came along Paul Thomas and when he saw I had the camera out he climbed up... I thought I could snap a group photo of the three of us... but NOOooo! That little booger would not be STILL... this was the best out of 5 that Itook of the 3 of us..:P

and he was mad that I held him still for his "Mommy & Me" pose...

What a fun day we had... despite that David suddenly came down with flu symptoms while we were at the mall today and felt 100% terrible. He was inside resting/sleeping while I kept the kids out of the house so he could enjoy some quiet. It stinks that he missed such a fun playtime in the backyard with the kids... I hope he gets to feeling better soon.

Happy Weekend everyone!

May 19th - All the way to 100

Today was a pretty exciting day at preschool for Nora! When I picked her up she was all smiles and very excited because today for the 1st time ever -all by herself - she counted to ONE HUNDRED for her teacher Ms. Meaux!!!

She got to ring a special bell and Ms. Meaux placed Nora's name on the ceiling...and a few other fun things too that Nora couldn't remember to tell me? ;)

So now she joins the 100 club of kids in her class that have accomplished this goal. I knew she could do it, and most likely could have been the first to do so - but even at home she'd get board around the 60's or 70's and just say... "I'm tired of this..." :P

So I didn't pressure her anymore about it. I knew she'd do it when she was ready and today was the day! I am so proud of Nora. To celebrate we got a Sunday from McDonalds and brought it home and she was super excited that I let her eat her ice cream "first" ;)

Do you remember the first time you counted to 100? I don't have a clue how old I was the first time I did but I know I wasn't this young! I'm thinking around 1st grade???

Who knows what new things she will learn next year in Kindergarten! She is already reading and doing math in PreK4.....

Cajun Story of the Week - week of 05/20/09

Maude Boudeaux was shopping at Robbie's Grocery Store and happened upon a granpa and his bad behaving three year old grandson. It was obvious to Ms. Maude that Gramps him, had his hands full wit dat kid screaming for candy and eveyrhting else.

Ms. maude watched grandpa working his way around da store saying in a calm voice, "Easy Albert, we won't be long. Easy boy." Da kid had anutta outburst and Grandpa him, in a controlled voice says, "It's OK Albert, jus a couple more minuites and we'll be outta here, hang in there."

At da checkout da little terror is t'rowing items out of da card and Gramps, again in a calm voice is saying, "Albert, Albert, relax buddy, don't get upset, we'll be home in five minutes, stay cool Albert."

Maude her was very impressed so she follered the old man to da car where he is puttin up his groceried and loading da brat. Maude says, "You know sir, you were amazing in there. I don't know me how you did it. Dat whole time you kept your composure no matter how loud and disruptive he got. You jus calmly kept saying things would be alright. Albert, him i svery lucky to have you for his Grandpa."

Grandpa said, Thanks lady, but you see me, I'm Albert, da little brat's name is Stevie."

==========================================================
and if you thought that was funny - wait until you read what I found. I was googling to find a photo of a brat in a grocery store photo to share with the sotry and instead found something even better.... This was a new to be blog - but CLICK here to read about the brat tantrum she witnessed in a grocery store. She's a much better writter than I am and has a real gift. After reading it I felt as if I had been right there in line behind her witnessing it all. :)

What a Beautiful Day

It's really been so nice here in SE Texas these last few weeks. Don't get me wrong, we still have mosquitoes and love bugs.... but if you over look those two factors...The weather is warm and nice...........and just take a look at all of our Gardenia shrubs in full bloom! They smell so wonderful!

There are 4 across the front of the house and one near the backyard. Everyday when I drive by them coming and going I think to myself - "We need to cut some and send with Nora to school to give to her teacher Ms. Meaux...." (pronounced Moe)

So today I've cut some and just had to cut extras to keep - they smell so good in my kitchen ;)

I hope Nora doesn't forget them tomorrow! The last day of school is this Friday.

Mom, Look at my "Come-Mote" that I made

Nora just recently started playing with Play-Dough here at home. She's been exposed to it at Story Time and of course pre-school but at home.... not so much. I just wasn't ready to deal with the mess here at home especially last year when things were so hectic around here with the babies... breathing treatments and breastfeeding... I just could not trust her with it and had no time to sit down and play with her...

But just a few weeks ago while the twins nap... I began letting Nora have time at the kitchen table to play on her own with Play-Dough over a clear vinyl table cloth of course and the things she has to use to play with are very limited but her imagination is not ;)

this here is her Remote Control that she made - with all the buttons for the TV. She had a lot of fun telling me which button showed which TV show... and knew them all by heart. ;) I'm just glad she didn't give me a pop quiz as to which button does "Word Girl" mom? b/c I would have never remembered.

Also I should note that Nora has always called the remote - a "COME-mote" no matter how many times I correct her she still says it the same :P Even David's been known to ask me if I've seen the "come-mote" LOL :)

I'm thinking she just may be able to add "Play-Dough" to her Birthday wish list... right now she only has 2 cans of it and various things from her kitchen set to use for playing... I know there are tons of fun stuff at the stores - I remember growing up I got the barbershop for my birthday one year and that was always so much fun to play with!!! I wonder if they still sell those?

Before I was a Mom

Before I was a Mom,
I never tripped over toys
or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not
my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never been puked on.
Pooped on.
Chewed on.
Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts.
I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held down a screaming child
so doctors could do tests. Or give shots..
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held a sleeping baby just because
I didn't want to put her down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces
when I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small
could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.

Before I was a Mom,
I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body..
I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important and happy.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache, the wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom.

I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much, before I was a Mom.

Happy Mother's Day to all of my friends who are moms!

May you always be overwhelmed by the Grace of God rather than by the cares of life!

Show-n-tell - on of my quilted treasures.

This Lone Star Quilt was hand pieced and hand quilted by my Grandmother, Momma Newt. She gave it to my parents as a wedding gift in 1954. It was her tradition to give couples a quilt of this pattern when they married and she did so for all of her children and 17 of her 18 grandchildren.

Momma Newt passed away in 1995 two years before my wedding so since I was the only one in the family who didn't receive a Lone Star made my Momma Newt my mother gifted me with the one she and Daddy received some 40+ years before. ;)

I'm so lucky to have such a special and meaningful treasure. I love all of my "Momma Newt Quilts" especially this one! So last year when it was time to hit the road runnin' to evacuate for Hurricane Ike, I couldn't take EVERY quilt... but y I grabbed up this one along with a few others and loaded em up in the passenger's side around the computer. They made for good padding and I knew I just couldn't live with out them if our home flooded.

Cajun Story of the Week of May 6, 2009

No kidding... our local newspaper (published only once a week) has a section called Cajun Story of the Week. I don't always get to read the paper, but when I do I always look for these.. they're funny.

When Daddy and Clara visit they always enjoy reading them to each other.. so after today's I thought why not publish them here and share each week? I think everyone will get a kick out of them.... and this week's story had David and I in stitches laughing about what if his mom ever had any cases like this. She works for the state of Ky. ;)

Cajun Story of the Week.
After retiring Calvin Comaux went to da Social Security office to apply for his Social Security. Da woman axe for his driver's license to verify his age. Calvin say, "I'm sory me, I forgotit, I will have to go home and get it."

Da lady behind da counter say, "Unbutton your shirt."

Calvin did dat him, revealing his curly silver hair. Da lady say, "Mr. Comeaux, dat silver hair on you chest is proof enough for me." Den she provessed Calvin's Social Security application.

When he got home he told his wife Clotile about his experience at da Social Security office. Clotile say, "Comeaux, you crazy Cajun, why didn't you drop you pants, you might have got disability too."

Wasn't that funny? ;) I'm so behind on blogging lately that I won't even kid myself into thinking I can ever catch up - so I'll just "Jump in" with what we are doing here and now... so here goes...my goal is to post at least 3 times each week.
